Kohen 7 week Portraits

I've been looking at a lot of Kohen's pictures wondering what our little girl will look like.
I forget what a chub Kohen was. Here are some of his portraits when he was only 7 weeks old.
I believe he was around 15-18lbs and our arms were killing us holding him up and out for the poses.

"Haw Haw"

Earlier this week we went to Glenda's (a lady Stuart works with) and got to see lots of fun animals.
She had a funny goose, chickens, a bird, a dog, cats, cows, and horses.
Kohen even got to ride one of the miniature horses named Ben. Both Stuart and I didn't know how he'd react to getting close to one even though he talked about it for days when we told him he was going to get to see a horse. However, not only was he not afraid, he rode Ben like a champ as we walked around the whole neighborhood. He was so cute!
He was fairly quiet though too (for him) and so we knew he was soaking it up and having fun.
But let me tell you, not a couple hours go by ever since then with out him still talking about all the animals and the horse he got to ride and says "Haw Haw" (Yee Haw) all the time. I think we know what he is going to be for Halloween :)

He LOVED feeding the horses "snacks" and was apparently surprised that  they had teeth because he is always telling us how he fed them and never leaves out the fact that they had teeth.

On the way home he conked out from all the excitement that morning. Thanks Glenda for wearing him out :)

Oh Bananas!

Here is a picture to represent the two minute period of time I didn't have my eye on Kohen and he decided to very randomly move my trash can, then move my kitchen chair over to the counter where the trash can was, grab the bunch of bananas and smush them into the carpet (actually he likes to snap them in half to open them because that's what Stuart does and I think he just got a little carried away). AND he decided to pee his pants taboot when he has been so good about potty training. Then proceed to throw a fit when he saw that I saw what he did because he hasn't been getting enough sleep....etc.

In Sunday School today we got on the topic briefly about how we tend to only blog the good stuff. I am totally like that! (Although sometimes I can't help but add in a little negative although I try to resist) But over all I only blog the "good moments" because
1) That's what I want to remember as I look back
2) Lets face it-who is blogging when they are trying to avoid ripping out their hair?! Haha
We all have those moments...many of them...where you are just surviving the moment.
But when/if I get "me" time, I blog. Partly because I feel like I constantly need to be doing something somewhat productive but also because it helps me vent in a way and remember the good parts of the day/week.

I am completely honest when I say I am obsessed with Kohen (if you couldn't tell) but let me assure you, I definitely have those, "Oh Bananas" moments.  :)

Places and Spaces

Obviously we move a lot but what helps me get through the tons of work (that I usually do all by myself) is knowing I get to find a way to redecorate my new space. My "space" is important to me. I like light and I LOVE matching and color coordinating. There's only so much you can do on a super tight budget but a good majority of my stuff is cheap things I've done things to to make it match...and I love it!
(Don't get me wrong...I'll love having a place that isn't an apartment and money to decorate it one day)
But for now I like to document each place we've been to and how we've made it our little home.
(Yes...a lot of the stuff is the same stuff from the start)

We moved to this apartment in April and although I meant to document it then I just didn't. However, I am about to change some things in preparation for Miley coming so I thought I'd show what it looked like beforehand.

KOHEN'S ROOM
I love that he's been able to have a play area in his room.

For any mothers out there who are panicking because the bed (yes..he sleeps in a queen sized bed) is by the window-no worries. There are three locks on it and no strings or cords! This mama knows her son and is prepared. Plus there weren't many other ways to arrange the room.

 MINE AND THE HUSBY'S ROOM
 Ignore the missing mirror.
When we first got married we bought 3 cheap bookshelves. With each move we loose a half of a bookshelf so when we arrived here we only had this half. But combined with our dresser I think it makes it look more put together :)
My favorite part of the room (or tied with my chandelier)
The picture frame that I loved and painted silver to match.
The glass Cinderella carriage Stuart gave me on our 3rd?? dating anniversary before we got married. And the "glass slippers" I made. Add damask and other bling and it makes me happy.

We were having a hard time with clothes (Stuart has more than I do I swear and they are bigger taboot) so we added tention rods in that odd space of our bedroom to hang up more of our junk and a shoe rack in our closet. Tacky? Yes.  But we made it work.

KITCHEN/DINING AREA
Ignore the boxes under the table. It's also my craft area. You can't see the clock, damask, plates and chalkboard plates, and candlestick holder well enough to appreciate that they are cute and I love them!
One of the chalkboard plates I put on "Manners Matter"
Stuart thought it was rude (which I found ironic) but it's so me. I most definitely thing manners matter. What do you think??
My kitchen. Lots more cupboard, pantry, counter space than the last one. So nice.
And my chalkboard frame for writing grocery needs. I finally did it so I'm still excited about it.

KOHEN'S BATHROOM
This place has two bathrooms which is so nice.

THE LIVING ROOM
Changes are coming to this room too :)

 GUEST/OUR BATHROOM

Ignore the empty frames. I'm in the process of changing out the quotes again.

Kohen lately

Kohen got sick with Bronchitis a couple weeks ago and I unfortunately caught it too.
Needless to say we've been stuck inside quite a bit.
Here's just a few things Kohen's been up to.

Adorable. I love him.

We Can Build It...Yes We Can

Daddy and Kohen put together a bookshelf to put in the kid's room.
Kohen was so eager to show off his muscles and would lift the heavy boards all over.
He is pretty good with the drill too and helped Daddy lots.

Yep. He decided he needed a wardrobe change half way through.
Apparently this was more of a Nemo underwear kind of thing instead of a Cars.
He even stole Stuart's hat. ( I think he thought it made him extra cool)

I love my boys!

Oh Drummer Boy

Kohen's second half of Grandma and Papa Rawlins birthday gift came in the mail a few weeks ago.
Kohen LOVES it! The drum set even comes with a microphone which is definitely a highlight.

(His eyes are closed in the one picture because we told him we had a surprise for him but he had to close his eyes first)

He's always seemed to really love music. Lately, he'll pretend to play the piano when he hears classical music and his little hands can't help but pat his legs when there's a song with a beat.
A couple weeks ago he even pretended to play a guitar when he heard an electric guitar solo in a song. He is particular about his music at times too and will tell you "no" (or the church congregation) if you sing a song he doesn't want to listen to.
And of course a day wouldn't be complete with out a little dance time.

It's just a crib

I've been in nesting mode like crazy since we've gotten home from our vacations. However, when it comes to changing Kohen's bed back into a crib I can't do it. You think it wouldn't be a problem since he hasn't slept in it since he was 18 months (he prefers the queen sized guest bed in his room). Truthfully he wasn't good about sleeping in his bed much as a baby either.
This past month he has hit so many milestones. I now have a 2 year old who continues to grow more and more independent each day. A little boy running around wearing big boy underwear instead of having a cute diaper bum. And a little boy whose vocabulary is now more sentences than anything else. As exhausting as motherhood can be I can honestly say I really love it. I love all the lots and lots of quality time Kohen and I spend together just the two of us (don't get me wrong definitely love when Daddy's home). And although we are all excited for our little family to grow soon, I can't help but feel a little sad that my baby boy is officially a big boy.
